Flutterbug Friday #32

Its been about two weeks since we got back from our Miami trip. As usual we had a great time with our grandparents and cousins. During this visit we went to the Miami Children’s Museum. What a great place to visit and soooo much fun. How lucky are we that they had a Clifford the Big Red Dog exhibit.  Clifford is one of our favorite shows. Ariana loves T-bone and I love Cleo, of course. We will definitely be going back to visit; we truly enjoyed our time there.

Around here…

its all about bug spray :  swimming lessons : sea shell crafts :  sun block : ice cream socials : our summer movie group : grilling : inflatable pools : afternoon showers : weekend morning beach trips : pinwheels : packing : birthday parties : baby showers : weeding : planting : freeze pops : biking : thunderstorms : meltdowns : laughing : watching : photographing : thinking : dreaming : traveling.

Just because I always feel the need to add a picture when I post:

Blackberry Hill Farm

Last Saturday, after breakfast we took a drive out to Middleburg to visit a farm and go blueberry picking.

When we mentioned to Gabby we were going blueberry picking she immediately stopped what she was doing and searched for her “pink” Easter bucket. These days, everything is pink.

Daddy gave the girls a quick lesson on how to pick and which berries to pick.

Ariana happily ate all the berries she picked.

After the enthusiasm of blueberry picking wore off the girls decided to race around the farm.

Most of the blueberry bushes had tons of green berries ready for ripening in the next few days. The owner of the farm was very nice and informed us that he was not going to open during the week, but was expecting a large crowd on 4th of July weekend.  I was concern about bugs, thus dressing the girls in long pants.  However, even on a hot day there weren’t many bugs to deal with and while I expected to run into anthills, I didn’t see many of those either. We also picked up some delicious honey that they sell from a local beekeeper.

Gabby proudly showing off her pickings and wanting to get home to make a recipe.

We didn’t get a chance to make a recipe with the blueberries. Ariana kept popping them in her mouth on our drive back.

Friday Favorite

Back in December I took the plunge into the wonderful and very expensive world of DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex).

When my Canon Rebel Xsi arrived, I didn’t want to take it out of the box. I was intimidated by it. The weight, the lens, the numbers. I thought to myself what was I getting into?

I guess I’ve always liked taking photos; recently someone I knew in high school, whom I came across on Facebook said they remember me always carrying a camera around.

Just recently, I decided to take an online photography class. I’ve often enjoyed reading and viewing photoblogs. This particular photographer, Maggie Holmes is a favorite of mine. When she came out with an online class, I quickly jumped at the chance of getting my name down on her waiting list.

I’ve been taking her class for four weeks. Every week I’m learning more and more about photography and putting all the pieces together. I’m loving it!

The girls have been great models. Especially Gabby… who wouldn’t work for an ice cream cone?

Have a Great Weekend!

Ariana’s Birthday Weekend

After Ariana enjoyed her French Toast breakfast, we headed out to Camp Milton.

Where the girls had fun blowing bubbles.

And enjoyed a game of tag.

Birthday Girl with a scratch on her nose because she doesn’t let her “mama” clip her nails.

Taking a moment to rest on the boardwalk while “abuela” picked blackberries for the girls.

There are blackberry bushes all around the trails. As there were swarms of mosquitoes that feasted on us too. We quickly headed home since I forgot to bring the bug spray.

After dinner we sang Happy Birthday … this time with ice cream cake…. a sure favorite of Ariana. She loved hearing us sing.

Birthday party was at Kids Kampus this year. Just a small gathering of close playgroup friends and family.

After all the water fun it was cake time. Ariana picked her cake. She wanted a fishie cake. Well… our buddy “Glitter Mommy” delivered.

Oh so yummy!

Ariana especially enjoyed the chocolate candy melts.

Probably my favorite picture of the day.

Happy Birthday to my baby, who’s not such a baby anymore! Your trying so hard to be a big girl like your sister. We cherish your sweet and loving nature, your energy and spirit. We love you! Happy 2nd Birthday!
